Lockheed Martin aggiornerà gli F-35 per Australia, Canada e Regno Unito

HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH CROSS DECK WITH ITALIAN NAVY CAVOUR Today HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH exchanged F-35B from VFMA-211 squadron with an Italian Navy and Italian Air Force. The VFMA-211 USMC jets departed HMS Queen Elizabeth and landed on the Italian carrier CAVOUR. Two F35B Lightning Jet from the Italian Navy and Italian Air Force landed, refuelled and relaunched from HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH. This is the third nation that has landed jets on the UK Carrier. On completion of the refuelling HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH launched an Italian Navy F-35, Italian Air Force F-35, USMC F-35 and finally an F-35B from the UK 617 squadron. The jets then operated in the skies above the two carriers developing their interoperability and mutual understanding of procedures. HMS Queen Elizabeth is the deployed flag ship for Carrier Strike Group 21(CSG21). CSG21 will see the ship along with the Strike Group work with over 40 countries from around the world. The Strike Group will operate and exercise with other Countries Navies and Air Forces during the 7 month deployment. The Strike Group includes ships from the United States Navy, The Dutch Navy, and Marines from the US Marine Corps. As well as UK Frigates, Destroyers two RFA supply ships and air assets from 617 Sqn, 820 NAS, 815 NAS and 845 NAS. This will be the largest deployment of Fifth Generation Fighter Jets in history.

Il Dipartimento della Difesa degli Stati Uniti (DoD) ha incaricato Lockheed Martin di stabilire la piena capacità operativa (FOC) dell’Australia Canada United Kingdom Reprogramming Laboratory (ACURL) per l’F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).

Lo scorso 16 marzo un funzionario dell’azienda ha dichiarato a Janes che una notifica di contratto pubblicata dal DoD la settimana precedente riguardava la creazione di FOC per l’ACURL a supporto della configurazione F-35 Block 4.

Lo stesso funzionario ha affermato che “L’ACURL viene utilizzato per sviluppare, verificare e convalidare file di dati di missione e consente ad Australia, Regno Unito e Canada di riprogrammare i dati di missione dell’F-35 per eseguire rapidamente missioni sovrane”.

“La fase 1 ha stabilito la capacità operativa iniziale per il laboratorio, fornendo una struttura iniziale, una linea di test e strumenti. La Fase 2 fornisce il percorso verso la piena capacità operativa e supporterà la configurazione del Blocco 4”.
